BREAKING — Cole County Courtroom, Missouri: State Attorney Agrees 2022 Congressional Maps Will Remain in Place Unless Voters Ratify HB1

Jefferson City, MO — Today, during a hearing in Cole County, an attorney representing the State of Missouri acknowledged that the state’s 2022 congressional maps will only be replaced if Missouri voters ratify HB1.

Richard von Glahn, Executive Director of People NOT Politicians Missouri, issued the following statement:

“People NOT Politicians Missouri agrees with the state: HB1 can only take effect after the people of Missouri have the opportunity to vote on the proposed maps. In a pretrial brief submitted today—and as the hearing transcript will show—the state confirmed what we have said all along: HB1 is not in effect unless and until voters affirm it. We are pleased the State of Missouri once again agrees that HB1 could only take effect upon the vote of the people and that people—not politicians—should have the final say.”
